Assistant Foreign Minister Liu Jieyi Attends the Sixty-Fourth Session of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP)

On April 28, 2008, the Ministerial Meeting of the sixty-fourth session of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) was held in Bangkok, Thailand. Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister Liu Jieyi headed the Chinese delegation to the meeting and delivered speeches during the general debate and the roundtable with the theme focusing energy security and sustainable development in Asia and the Pacific.

During the meeting, Liu met ESCAP Executive Secretary, discussing bilateral cooperation and subjects relevant to the meeting. Liu also met with vice minister of the Department of Foreign Affairs, trade and immigration of Papua New Guinea, Minister of the Customs and Inland Revenue Department of Samoa, general director of the foreign ministry of Vanuatu, deputy foreign minister of Kazakhstan, exchanging views on bilateral ties and regional and international issues of common concern.
