Assistant Foreign Minister Wu Hongbo Meets with Delegation from the Parliamentary Bulgaria-China Friendship Group

On June 24, 2008, Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister Wu Hongbo met in the Foreign Ministry with a visiting delegation from the parliamentary Bulgaria-China Friendship Group.

Wu made positive comments on the current development of China-Bulgaria and appreciated Bulgaria's firm adherence to the one-China policy. He expressed gratitude to the Bulgarian side for their sympathy and support in the wake of the Wenchuan earthquake. Wu welcomed the Bulgarian president to come to Beijing to watch the Olympic Games and wished good results for Bulgarian athletes.

The head of the delegation Yanaki Stoilov, also chairman of the parliamentary Bulgaria-China Friendship Group, expressed condolences and sympathy over the quake disaster that hit China. He emphasized that Bulgaria has always adhered to the one-China policy and cherishes its traditional friendship with China, adding that his country hopes to further expand bilateral mutually beneficial cooperation. Stoilov also wished the Beijing Olympic Games a success.

The delegation is scheduled to visit China from June 22 to 28 at the invitation of the Chinese People's Institute of Foreign Affairs.
