Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi Unveils Logo and Launches Official Website of ASEM 7

2008/06/30

On 30 June, 2008, Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi unveiled the logo and launched the official website of the Seventh Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM 7) at a brief ceremony attended by ASEM Senior Officials in Beijing.

Addressing the audience, Yang Jiechi pointed out that 'ASEM has established itself as an important channel of dialogue and cooperation between Asia and Europe. It has not only strengthened ties between Asian and European countries, but also promoted interactions and exchanges between the people of the two regions'.

Speaking of the ASEM 7 Summit to be held in Beijing in October, Yang Jiechi said ASEM leaders would have in-depth discussions on major international and regional issues, strengthening dialogue on an equal footing and mutually beneficial cooperation between Asia and Europe to benefit people in both regions.

The Seventh ASEM Summit will be held in Beijing 24-25 October. Leaders from 45 ASEM members are expected to attend the meeting. The theme of the Summit is 'Vision and Action -- Towards a Win-Win Solution'.

The logo for ASEM 7 draws its inspiration from the Chinese knot. The image is composed of the letters 'a' and 'e', symbolizing solidarity and harmony between Asia and Europe. The official website of ASEM 7 launched on the same day will provide information of the Seventh ASEM Summit to the public and Summit delegates. The address of the website is www.asem7.cn.
