Assistant Foreign Minister Liu Jieyi Meets with the Delegation of World Young Leaders Summit

On June 11, 2008, Assistant Foreign Minister Liu Jieyi met with the World Young Leaders Summit delegation of over 300 university students organized by the US Congress council of young leaders assembly and China International Travel Service.

Liu introduced China and its foreign policy, explained China's peaceful development strategy and pointed out that China would unswervingly follow the road of peaceful development and promote the building of a harmonious world with lasting peace and common prosperity. He noted that the beautiful future of the world depends on the joint efforts of youth of all countries, encouraged the students, through visits and exchanges, to understand China comprehensively and objectively, increase mutual understanding and friendship and join hands to create a bright tomorrow for the entire world.

The students responded to Liu's words warmly and said that the visit helped them deepen understanding of China and its foreign policy and they would make active efforts to promote the dialogue and exchanges between civilizations and enhance the understanding and friendship among youth all over the world.

World Young Leaders Summit is committed to creating a unique platform for the excellent youth worldwide to develop and discuss leadership skills. Since 1985 it has organized meetings, tours and visits all over the world for more than 100,000 youth from 75 countries and regions. The above-mentioned delegation to China is composed of youth from 47 countries and regions including the US, Russia, the UK, Germany, Australia, Canada, South Korea, Egypt and South Africa. In addition to Beijing, it would also visit Xi'an and Shanghai.
