2008/08/08

On the morning of August 8, 2008, the inauguration ceremony of the new U.S. embassy in China was held. U.S. President Bush and Chinese State Councilor Dai Bingguo attended and addressed the ceremony.

Bush said that the inauguration of the new embassy symbolizes the solid relations between the U.S. and China. Both countries share extensive common interest and enjoy close cooperation. The U.S. will make joint efforts with China to continue to promote the development of the bilateral constructive partnership.

Dai noted that the earlier inauguration of the Chinese embassy in the U.S. and then the U.S. embassy in China signify the positive momentum of China-U.S. relations. The sound bilateral ties serve the fundamental interest of the two countries and their people and are conducive to peace, stability and development in the Asian and Pacific region and the world at large. We are willing to join hands with the U.S. to promote the healthy and stable development of the bilateral constructive partnership.

Former U.S. President Bush also delivered a warm speech at the ceremony.
