2011/09/24

On September 23, 2011, visiting Chinese Vice Premier Hui Liangyu met with Peruvian acting President Marisol Espinoza in Lima.

Hui said despite the distance keeping the two countries apart, the friendship between China and Peru had enjoyed a long history and the bilateral relations had been growing steadily since the two countries forged diplomatic relations 40 years ago. In recent years, the two countries had witnessed frequent high-level exchanges, increasingly enhanced mutual trust in politics and fruitful achievements in bilateral cooperation in various fields, Hui said. Cultural exchanges between the two countries have become more active, which further enhanced mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples and consolidated the foundation of public opinion for bilateral friendly relations. The two countries also have maintained very good coordination and communications in international affairs, he said. The Chinese vice premier said that, on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries, China was willing to work with Peru to push for sustainable development of the China-Peru strategic partnership on the basis of mutual respect, equality and mutual benefit.

Espinoza said Peru was satisfied with extensive and fruitful cooperation between the two countries in recent years. Today as globalization is developing rapidly, the two countries should join hands to create a better future. Currently the two countries face a golden opportunity for keeping closer ties and achieving common development. She said Peru highly valued its ties with China and believed Hui's visit to Peru would open a new stage for the friendly cooperation between the two countries. Espinoza thanked for China's disinterested help in many aspects. She reiterated that Peru firmly adheres to the one-China policy and expressed hope of deepening cooperation with China in a wider range of areas.
