Assistant Foreign Minister Liu Zhenmin Attends the Symposium on China-Japan-ROK Trilateral Cooperation on Disaster Prevention and Relief

On October 27, 2011, Assistant Foreign Minister Liu Zhenmin, at invitation, attended the Symposium on China-Japan-the Republic of Korea (ROK) Trilateral Cooperation on Disaster Prevention and Relief and delivered a speech.

Liu pointed out that China-Japan-ROK cooperation mechanism has been enriched, pragmatic cooperation in various fields grown vigorously, social and cultural exchanges developed actively and coordination in regional and international organizations strengthened continuously since the launch of the trilateral cooperation in 1999. China will host the fifth meeting of national leaders of the three countries next year which marks the 40th anniversary of the normalization of China-Japan diplomatic ties and the 20th anniversary of China-ROK diplomatic relations. He believes China-Japan relations, China-ROK relations and the trilateral cooperation will achieve greater progress next year. The trilateral cooperation on disaster prevention and relief started pretty late but has a big potential and sound development momentum. He hopes the participants to offer advices and put forward creative ideas on the trilateral disaster prevention and relief cooperation.

Hosted by China Institute of International Studies (CIIS), the symposium was attended by more than 50 people, including the CIIS Director Qu Xing, China-Japan-ROK Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat's Secretary General Shin Bong-kil as well as government officials, experts, scholars and journalists of the three countries.
