Assistant Foreign Minister Zhang Kunsheng Attends the Celebrations on the 40th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Diplomatic Relations between China and Peru

On November 7, 2011, Assistant Foreign Minister Zhang Kunsheng attended the celebrations on the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between China and Peru held by the Peruvian Embassy in China. About 300 people from various circles of the two countries including Peruvian ambassador to China Gonzalo Gutierrez, Director-General of the Department of Latin American Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China Yang Wanming and several former Chinese ambassadors to Peru attended the event.
Gutierrez and Zhang made remarks respectively. Ambassador Gutierrez said Peru is satisfied with the smooth development of bilateral relations over the past 40 years. President Ollanta Humala attaches great importance to developing relations with China and the new Peruvian government is willing to make joint efforts with China to further promote the bilateral strategic partnership. Assistant Foreign Minister Zhang said since the establishment of diplomatic ties 40 years ago, China-Peru relations have been developing smoothly. Especially since the two countries established strategic partnership in 2008, bilateral relations have entered a new stage of comprehensive, rapid development. In 2009, the two countries signed a free trade agreement, building a new platform for both sides to enhance the level of economic cooperation. The two countries have conducted closer and fruitful exchanges and cooperation on politics, economy, trade, culture, science, technology and education. Both sides have become good friends with mutual trust and good partners with sincere cooperation. He believed that with the joint efforts of both sides, China-Peru strategic partnership will continue to achieve greater development.
