Chinese Government's Special Envoy & Assistant Foreign Minister Zhang Ming Meets with Arab League (AL) Secretary General Nabil al-Arabi

On March 13, 2012, Chinese Government's Special Envoy & Assistant Foreign Minister Zhang Ming met with Arab League (AL) Secretary General Nabil al-Arabi in Cairo. Chinese Ambassador to Egypt Song Aiguo attended the meeting.
Zhang expounded on the six proposals China raised on the political solution of the Syrian issue. He stressed that China and the Arab side have consistent overall goals in pushing for the political solution of the Syrian issue and safeguarding peace and stability of the Middle East. China supports the active and constructive role played by the Arab League and Arab countries on the Syrian issue and appreciates the positive efforts of the Secretary-General in this regard. China is ready to maintain communication with the Arab League and Arab countries to jointly promote a fair, peaceful and proper solution to the Syrian issue.
Al-Arabi thanked Zhang for his comprehensive introduction and reviewed the efforts the Arab League has made in solving the Syrian issue, expressing hope that China will play an important role in addressing the crisis.
The two sides also exchanged views on how to further promote Sino-Arab ties.
