President Hu Jintao Arrives in New Delhi for the Fourth BRICS Summit
On March 28, 2012, Chinese President Hu Jintao arrived in New Delhi for the fourth summit of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, the grouping known as BRICS, to be held from March 28 to 29.
At 13:30 local time, President Hu's special plane arrived at the airport. President Hu and his wife Liu Yongqing were warmly greeted by Indian Minister of State for Commerce & Industry Scindia.
Hu's entourage including Ling Jihua, Wang Huning and Dai Bingguo arrived by the same plane.
Chinese Ambassador to India Zhang Yan also greeted Hu at the airport.
The theme of the summit is "BRICS Partnership for Global Stability, Security and Prosperity". President Hu will expound on China's positions on issues including global governance, sustainable development and cooperation among the BRICS members and exchange in-depth views with participating leaders. On the sidelines of the summit, Hu will also meet other BRICS leaders.
Hu flew in from Seoul, where he attended the nuclear security summit. From New Delhi, the Chinese leader will travel to Cambodia for a state visit.
The senior representatives of the ROK government saw Hu off at the airport upon his departure from Seoul. Chinese Ambassador to the ROK Zhang Xinsen also saw Hu off at the airport.
