Jia Qinglin Meets with Thai Princess Sirindhorn
On April 5, 2012, Jia Qinglin, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), met with visiting Thai Princess Sirindhorn at the Great Hall of the People.
Jia expressed welcome for Princess Sirindhorn's 34th visit to China. Applauding the sound development of China-Thailand relations, Jia said China and Thailand are close friendly neighbors. He added that both sides have enjoyed deep mutual political trust and achieved fruitful results in mutually beneficial cooperation and close humanities exchanges since the two countries forged diplomatic relations 37 years ago. He also highly praised the role that the Thai royal family has played in promoting the China-Thailand friendship, adding that Princess Sirindhorn has become a symbol of China-Thailand friendship. Jia told the Thai princess that China values its ties with Thailand, and will adhere to the policy of "treating its neighbors well and as partners" and continue its efforts to advance the bilateral relations. Jia also briefed Sirindhorn on China's domestic development.
Sirindhorn thanked for Jia's meeting with her and voiced her high appreciation of the achievements China has made in its national economic and social development. She also thanked for the warm and friendly reception the Chinese side has extended to her during each visit, promising to continue to contribute her efforts to the development of China-Thailand friendship, especially the cooperation on science, technology and education.
CPPCC Deputy Secretary General Sun Huaishan and other officials were present at the meeting.
