On April 13, 2012, after attending the 11th meeting of foreign ministers of China, Russia, and India, Foreign ministers of China, Russia and India jointly met with the journalists. Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi answered the question concerning the recent satellite launch of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK). He said that since DPRK announced the satellite launch program, the Chinese side expressed concerns and anxieties about the development of the situation. In the recent days, China has been actively coordinating with the parties concerned with the hope that the situation might move towards the good direction.

Yang said that China has noticed DPRK's satellite launch as well as the reactions of the parties concerned. China hopes that parties concerned could stay calm, exercise restraint and do not do things that harm the peace and stability of the Peninsula and the region. China hopes that the parties concerned adhere to engagements and dialogues and jointly safeguard the peace and stability of the Peninsula and the region.

Yang also pointed out that the Six-Party Talks is an effective mechanism and an important platform to deal with and solve the relevant issues, achieve the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula and maintain the peace and stability of the Peninsula and Northeast Asia. The parties concerned should adhere to the goals identified in the 9·19 Joint Statement. China hopes that the parties concerned maintain dialogues, enhance mutual understanding, take the overall situation in mind, and make joint efforts to promote the Six-Party Talks process. China is willing to maintain close communication and coordination with the international community and continue to play a constructive role in this regard.
