Chairman Jia Qinglin Meets with General Prem Tinsulanonda, President of the Privy Council of Thailand
On April 23, 2012, local time, Chairman Jia Qinglin of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) met in Bangkok with General Prem Tinsulanonda, President of the Privy Council of Thailand.
Jia said, "Your Excellency is a highly respected statesman. You have made an outstanding contribution to the cause of Sino-Thai friendship. You are a respected old friend of the Chinese people. China and Thailand are as dear to each other as members of one family. Thai and Chinese are like brothers." Since the establishment of diplomatic ties 37 years ago, the two countries have always shown each other mutual respect, mutual understanding and mutual support and treated each other as equals. The Sino-Thai relations have withstood various tests and can be considered as a model of good-neighborly friendship between China and its neighboring countries.
Jia said that today's achievements in bilateral relations are attributed to the great attention and personal promotion of the leaders of both countries. His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, Her Majesty the Queen, the royal family and the Privy Council are all committed to the cause of friendship between the two countries. The successive governments in Thailand are all actively engaged in promoting cooperation with China. The two peoples have also established a profound relationship. All these have provided important guarantee for the long-term and stable development of Sino-Thai relations. China is willing to make joint efforts with the Thai side so as to carry forward the heritage of Sino-Thai friendship under the new situation so as to better benefit the two peoples and contribute to regional stability, development, and prosperity.
General Prem Tinsulanonda said that Chairman Jia Qinglin has brought to Thailand the Chinese people's friendly feelings to the Thai people, which will greatly boost the development of Thai-Chinese relations. China, as a growing big country, hopes to strengthen relations with Thailand, which is a testament for the relationship of mutual respect and equal cooperation between the two countries. He said that he could gain useful insights and inspirations and could truly feel the brother-like friendship between China and Thailand each time when he meets with Chinese leaders. He said that he is willing to continue to play a positive role in advancing the Thai-Chinese relations and deepening the friendship between the two peoples.
Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of the CPPCC National Committee Qian Yunlu and Chinese Ambassador to Thailand Guan Mu were also present at the meeting.
