Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi To Attend the Geneva Disarmament Conference and Visit Jordan

Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Jiang Yu announces: At the invitation of Mr. Sergei Ordzhonikidze, Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva and Secretary-General of Conference on Disarmament, Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi will leave for Geneva on August 12 to attend and address the Conference on Disarmament. Prior to that, Foreign Minister Yang will pay an official visit to Jordan from August 10 to 11 at the invitation of Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. At the Conference on Disarmament, Foreign Minister Yang will expound on China's observation on how to promote international arms control, disarmament and non-proliferation, as well as China's position and policy on nuclear disarmament. During his stay in Geneva, Foreign Minister Yang will also meet with officials of relevant international organizations and exchange views with them on the friendly relations of cooperation between China and these organizations. During his stay in Jordan, Foreign Minsiter Yang will talk with his Jordanian counterpart and meet with leaders to exchange views on bilateral relations as well as major international and regional issues.
