Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Ma Zhaoxu's Remarks on the 2009 Annual Report of the US Commission on International Religious Freedom

2009/05/06

Q: The United States Commission on International Religious Freedom released its 2009 Annual Report, continuing to list China as a "country of particular concern" and criticize China for the situation of religious freedom. How do you comment on that?

A: The Chinese Government protects its citizens' freedom of religious belief according to law. It is a well-known fact that people of all ethnic groups around China fully enjoy freedom of religious belief.

The accusations in the annual report of the so-called US Commission on International Religious Freedom are groundless and biased. The scheme to defame China will get nowhere.
