Foreign Ministry Spokesperson's Remarks on the report that China has acquired missile and fighters navigation technologies from the Boeing Company

2004/02/10

Q: The US House Representatives Henry J. Hyde and Tom Lantos say that because of the mal-management of the US Department of State, China has acquired missile and fighters navigation technologies from the Boeing Company. What is your comment on it?

A: It's totally groundless to say that China has acquired American missile and fighters navigation technologies from Boeing.
The Boeing Company sells civilian planes to many countries in the world. The passenger aircrafts that the Chinese airlines import from Boeing are suitable for civil aviation. They are nothing different from those of other airlines, either in terms of model or equipment.
We have taken note that the spokesman of Boeing has already made it clear that the company's activity fully complies with the US export regulations.
