Mr. Chen Jiakang was born in Guangji County, Hubei Province in January 1913 and passed away in July 1970.He served as vice minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China from January 1966 to July 1970.
Before the People's Republic was founded, Mr. Chen Jiakang was member of Foreign Affairs Committee of South Bureau of CPC Central Committee and took other posts as well.In April 1945, he accompanied Mr. Dong Biwu to San Francisco for the conference on the drawing up of the UN Charter.He was appointed director-general of the Asian Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1949.He was assistant minister of Foreign Affairs from January 1955 to July 1956, then the first Chinese ambassador to Egypt (concurrently to Yemen) from July 1956 to December 1965.
