On 26 November 2013, Vice Premier Zhang Gaoli of the State Council met at Ziguangge of Zhongnanhai with French Minister of Finance and Economics Pierre Moscovici.
Zhang Gaoli said that China attaches great importance to developing relations with France. In April this year, President Xi Jinping and President Francois Hollande reached important consensus on pushing for development of a new type of China-France comprehensive strategic partnership and they jointly initiated the establishment of a high-level economic and financial dialogue mechanism between China and France. The successful holding of the first round of dialogue is an important measure of the two sides to implement the consensus between the two heads of state and will play a positive role in establishing a new type of firmer China-France comprehensive strategic partnership.
Zhang Gaoli expressed that the Third Plenary Session of the 18th CPC Central Committee has made overall deployment on fully deepening reform. China fully deepening reform and further expanding opening up will provide new opportunities of cooperation with China for all countries in the world including France. The economies of China and France are highly complementary to each other, with huge potentials for economic and trade cooperation. Hope both sides will continue to leverage their respective advantages, uplift the level of cooperation in the fields of nuclear power, aviation, aerospace and finance and actively explore cooperation in the new fields of sustainable urban development, new energy, health care, modernization and informatization.
Moscovici expressed that France is ready, through the high-level economic and financial dialogue and other mechanisms, to deepen cooperation with China in the fields of macroeconomics, finance, economy, trade and investment so as to push for further development of bilateral relations.
