Dominican Leaders Meet with Vice Foreign Minister Zhou Wenzhong

On June 16, 2004, Dominican President Nicholas Liverpool, Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit, Speaker of Parliament Alix Boyd Knights and Foreign Minister Osborne Riviere met respectively with visiting Vice Foreign Minister of China Zhou Wenzhong. The Dominican leaders indicated that their people welcome and support the government's decision to establish diplomatic relations with China, hoping that both sides will make efforts to promote the continuous development of the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries. Vice Foreign Minister Zhou spoke highly of the correct choice by the Dominican government to normalize its relations with China and noted that the Chinese side would comply with its commitment and try to promote bilateral cooperation in various fields, adding that the prospects for friendly relations between China and Dominica are bright. China and Dominica established diplomatic relations at ambassadorial level in March this year.
