On the afternoon of November 9 2004, Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing made phone conversations respectively with High Representative Solana for Common Foreign and Security Policy of the EU and Foreign Minister Bot of the Netherlands and exchanged views with them on the 7th China-EU Summit which is to be held soon as well as further pushing forward the development of China-Europe comprehensive strategic partnership.

Solana reaffirmed that enhancing cooperation with China is the priority goal in EU's foreign relations. Bot noted that as the rotating chair of the EU, the Netherlands stands ready to make joint efforts with the Chinese side in order that the 7th China-EU Summit achieve substantial results.
