On April 18, 2005, Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing met with H.E. Ambassador Jaap Ramaker of the Netherlands', Special Representative of States Ratifiers to Promote Ratification Process of the Comprehensive Nuclear Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT) in the Foreign Ministry.

Minister Li Zhaoxing held that CTBT contributes to preventing the nuclear weapons proliferation and maintaining the world peace and stability, and is in the common interests of the international community including China. China supports its early entry into force and would strive for this goal together with all parties concerned.

Ambassador Ramaker appreciated China's positive attitude towards the treaty. He emphasized the importance of China's ratification, and wished this would take place at an early date.
