China and Russia Sign the Joint Statement on the International Order of the 21st Century

On July 1, Chinese President Hu Jintao and Russian President Vladimir Putin signed the Joint Statement of the People's Republic of China and the Russian Federation on the International Order of the 21st Century following a meeting in Moscow. The Joint Statement elaborates the common proposition of China and Russia on some major international issues.

In the Joint Statement the two sides express common stand on the central tasks of mankind in the new century, how to solve the problems faced by mankind, the reform of the United Nations, the impact of globalization, elimination of development disparity between the developed and developing nations and the establishment of a new security framework.

The Joint Statement shows the resolute determination of China and Russia to promote world peace, stability and prosperity, which is of great significance to deepening the bilateral strategic coordination in the international arena and ensuring the healthy development of international situation.

During their meeting Hu and Putin exchanged in-depth opinions on further strengthening the bilateral strategic partnership of coordination and the regional and international issues of common concern.
