President Hu Jintao Sends a Message of Condolence to Vietnamese President Tran Duc Luon on the Typhoon's Attack Against His Country

2006/05/24

On May 24, 2006, President Hu Jintao sent a message of condolence to Vietnamese President Tran Duc Luon on the typhoon's attack against the coastal areas of central and southern Vietnam causing a number of fishing boats to sink or to be missing and inflicting heavy casualties and property losses.

On behalf of the Chinese government and people and in his own name, President Hu expressed his deep sympathy and sincere condolences to President Tran, the Vietnamese government and the people in the disaster-hit areas.

Hu said China and Vietnam are two good neighbors and there is profound friendship between the people of the two countries. China's maritime rescue teams will continue to help search and rescue Vietnamese victims and survivors. I believe under the leadership of the Party and government of Vietnam, the people in the disaster-hit areas will be able to overcome the difficulties caused by the typhoon and resume normal production and lifestyle as early as possible.
