On July 10, 2006, State Councilor Tang Jiaxuan made a phone conversation with US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice upon request. Tang indicated that no matter what happens, China will firmly safeguard peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula and promote the process of the six-party talks to realize the goal of a nuclear-free Korean Peninsula. China hopes all parties concerned will make joint constructive efforts to this end.
