On December 28, 2006, Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing met with visiting Foreign Minister Alikbek Jekshenkulov of Kyrgyzstan, which holds the rotating presidency of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). They exchanged views on bilateral ties, the development of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the regional situation. Following the meeting, they also signed a document outlining the cooperation between the two foreign ministries in 2007.
