Tang Jiaxuan Meets with French Socialist Party's Head Royal

On January 7, 2007, Chinese State Councilor Tang Jiaxuan met with the French Socialist Party 's head Segolene Royal at Diaoyutai State Guesthouse. China-France relations have witnessed smooth growth since the two countries established diplomatic ties over 40 years ago, Tang said, noting that the cooperation between the two sides, especially in recent years, is "comprehensive and fruitful". "China would like to work with France to deepen mutual understanding and political and strategic dialogue, and broaden cooperation for mutual-benefit," Tang said. China hopes Royal and the French Socialist Party can continuously contribute to the long-term steady development of all-round strategic partnership between the two countries, Tang added. Royal said that France-China friendly cooperation satisfies common interests of both and benefits the world's peace, stability and development. China's achievements in the areas of economy, society, and humanities are of positive significance to the world. She said the French Socialist Party would like to make efforts to push forward mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries. Vice-Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee Zhang Zhijun, Assistant Foreign Minister Kong Quan and other officials attended the meeting.
