Qin Gang, Spokesperson of the Chinese Delegation to the Six-Party Talks Holds a Briefing

On the evening of September 27, 2007, Qin Gang, Spokesperson of the Chinese delegation to the second phase of the Six-Party Talks, held a briefing in the conference and press centre, Diaoyutai Hotel. Qin briefed on the opening ceremony of the meeting held in the afternoon and answered the questions raised by journalists.

When being asked of the denuclearisation of the Korean Peninsular, Qin said that with the joint efforts of all parties, there was a positive momentum to the denuclearisation process, including the DPRK's reaffirmation of a complete declaration of all its nuclear programs and the disablement of all its nuclear facilities. One of the major tasks of the meeting is to discuss the denuclearisation for the next phase. Qin hoped that the parities could take advantage of the current momentum to push the process forward.

With respect to whether there will be new agreements to be reached at the meeting, Qin said that the meeting will discuss whether the six parties could reach new consensus and put it in document. It requires the joint efforts of the six parties will work to fulfill this goal.
