The Second Phase of the Six-Round of Six-Party Talks Is Adjourned

2007/09/30

On the afternoon of September 30, 2007, the second phase of the six-round of six-party talks held the meeting of the heads of delegation. After the meeting, they attended a press conference together. Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Wu Daiwei, who is chairing the meeting and heading the Chinese Delegation, said that the meeting is an important one in the process of six-party talks. Its central theme is to discuss and develop the second-phase action plans for the implementation of the Joint Statement. We listened attentively to the reports delivered by the five working groups. Based upon their consensus, we had adequate and meaningful discussions on the next-phase action plans and reached important consensus. With the concerted efforts of all parties, we have drafted a joint document that can be delivered to our respective governments. The document requires the recognition of the governments. Therefore, we decided to adjourn the meeting for two days. We will try to release the joint document to the public as soon as possible.
