Foreign Governments and International Organizations Send Messages (Letters) of Condolence to China

From February 1 to 2, 2008, some foreign governments and international organizations expressed condolence to the Chinese southern regions suffering the disaster caused by heavy snow, sleet, ice rain and unusual cold.

British Foreign Secretary David Miliband, Thai Foreign Minister Nitya Pibulsonggram, Argentine Deputy Foreign Minister Garcia Moritan, and Uruguayan Vice Foreign Minister Belela Herrera, on behalf of their governments, expressed support to the Chinese government and people, sent condolence to the victimized families and expressed their hope for the early restoration of normal lives in the disaster-hit region.

The foreign ministries of Mexico, Thailand, and Costa Rica and the Secretariat of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) issued communiqués expressing their condolence and support to the unremitting efforts made by the Chinese government in dealing with emergencies and disaster and ensuring the production and life of the disaster-stricken region.
