Assistant Foreign Minister Liu Jieyi Meets with U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Hill

On February 18, 2008, Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister Liu Jieyi met with visiting U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Christopher Hill, exchanging views on Sino-U.S. relations, as well as international and regional issues of mutual concern.

Liu made positive comments on the current bilateral relations, saying that both sides should make joint efforts to continue implementing the important consensus reached by the two leads of state, strengthen dialogue, mutual trust and cooperation and properly handle the Taiwan and other sensitive questions, so as to push for healthy and stable development of Sino-U.S. constructive cooperative relations.

Hill said the U.S. attaches great importance to ties with China and is ready to work with China to further bilateral ties.
