On February 20, 2008, Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi talked over phone at the appointed time with David Miliband, secretary of state for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs of Britain.

The Chinese foreign minister welcomed Miliband's upcoming visit, saying he believes the visit will further boost the development of bilateral ties. The two sides also exchanged views on Sudan's Darfur, Kosovo and Iran's nuclear issue.
