Assistant Foreign Minister Liu Jieyi Meets with IOM Director-General Mckinley

On March 20, 2008, Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister Liu Jieyi met with visiting Director-General of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Brunson Mckinley.

Liu expressed welcome for Mckinley's attendance at the launch of the capacity building program for migration management in China and appreciated him for attaching importance to cooperation with China. Liu also spoke highly of cooperative ties between China and IOM, pointing out that the organization has made important contributions in international migration cooperation. Liu hoped that IOM will continue to tap its advantages and work with China to push for in-depth development of bilateral cooperation.

Mckinley thanked for China's efforts in migration cooperation, saying that IOM gives top priority to China's positive role on the issue of migration and will actively cooperate with China in implementing the capacity building program for migration management. IOM is ready to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with China based on the program, he added.

On the afternoon of the same day, the launch of the capacity building program for migration management in China was held in Beijing.
