Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi Meets with OECD Secretary-General Gurría

2008/03/24

On March 24, 2008, Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi met with visiting Secretary-General of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) Angel Gurría. Both sides exchanged views on enhancing cooperation between China and the OECD and other issues.

Gurría said the OECD attaches importance to developing cooperation with China and hopes to conduct "even closer cooperation" with developing countries including China, for which Yang expressed appreciation. The Chinese foreign minister pointed out that closer ties between the OECD and developing nations are conducive to promoting international economic cooperation and South-North dialogue, and are of positive significance to resolving global issues, especially the economic ones.
