Assistant Foreign Minister Liu Jieyi Meets with Speaker of Legislative Assembly of Samoa Tolofuaivalelei

On March 26, 2008, Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister Liu Jieyi met with Speaker of Legislative Assembly of Samoa Tolofuaivalelei Falemoe Leiataua and his delegation of the Human Rights Protection Party of Samoa. Liu welcomed the delegation's visit and spoke highly of China-Samoa relations and bilateral cooperation in all areas. Liu appreciated the government, parliament and Human Rights Protection Party of Samoa for adhering to the one-China policy and supporting China's reunification. China attaches importance to ties with Samoa and is ready to make joint efforts with it to further exchanges in all areas and do a good job in economic and technological cooperation, so as to push for greater progress of bilateral relations.

Echoing Liu's comments on bilateral ties, Tolofuaivalelei thanked for China's sincere and disinterested assistance over the years to Samoa. Samoa cherishes its friendship with China and will continue to resolutely adhere to the one-China policy, he said. Tolofuaivalelei also expressed the willingness of the Samoan government, parliament and ruling party to strengthen exchanges with China on governing the country and to learn from China's experience of development.
