On the afternoon of March 31, 2008, Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao returned home by special plane after concluding the working visit to Laos. Wen also attended the third Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) Summit in Vientiane during his visit from March 29 to 31. Premier Wen's entourage returned home on the same day.

Prior to the departure, Bosaykham Vongdara, Lao minister of energy and mines and president of the Lao-Chinese Friendship Association, Chinese Ambassador to Laos Pan Guangxue, the staff of the Chinese embassy in Laos and representatives from Chinese students, Chinese-funded institutions and overseas Chinese saw off Premier Wen at the Wattay Airport in Vientiane.
