Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi Holds Telephone Conversation with Newly-Elected Pakistani Foreign Minister Qureshi

On the evening of April 2, 2008, Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi held a telephone conversation with newly-elected Pakistani foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi. In their telephone conversation, Yang first congratulated Qureshi for his election as Pakistani foreign minister. China and Pakistan are traditionally good neighbors, and to further deepen their all-weather friendship and shore up all-around cooperation are the common wishes of both sides, the two ministers agreed in the conversation. They also said that President Pervez Musharraf's upcoming visit to China will further push forward bilateral cooperation in all areas and the China-Pakistan strategic cooperative partnership. Qureshi also expressed support for the Beijing Olympics in August and wished the Games every success.
