Dai Bingguo Meets with Thai Princess Sirindhorn

2008/04/02

On April 2, 2008, Chinese State Councilor Dai Bingguo met with visiting Thai Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.

On behalf of the Chinese government, Dai welcomed Sirindhorn for her 25th visit to China and spoke highly of the important contributions she has made over the years to building up the friendship between the two countries. China and Thailand, as good friends, neighbors and partners, had witnessed healthy and stable development of relations since they established diplomatic ties 33 years ago, Dai said. Cooperation in areas of mutual interest had brought concrete benefits to both peoples, Dai said, adding that the belief that "China and Thailand are as close as one family" had already been deeply rooted in the hearts of the peoples of both countries.

Sirindhorn thanked the Chinese government for inviting her to China again, saying that she was delighted to see China's achievements during her visits. She will also visit northeast China and eastern China's Shandong Province. She expressed belief that this visit will further deepen her understanding of China. Sirindhorn also wished great success for the Beijing Olympic Games, saying that she will attend the opening ceremony in August.
