On April 24, 2008, Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister Liu Jieyi met with Antonio Garcia Revilla, Undersecretary-General for Multilateral Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Peru.

Liu spoke highly of bilateral ties, pointing to the frequent high-level visits, deepening political trust and enhanced comprehensive cooperative partnership between the two countries. China and Peru have maintained sound cooperation in multilateral areas, said Liu, expressing China's willingness to strengthen coordination and cooperation with Peru.

Echoing Liu's comments on bilateral ties and multilateral cooperation, Garcia said Peru and China, both developing countries, share similar positions on many international and regional issues. Peru is ready to further deepen cooperation with China on security, development and human rights, Garcia added.
