2008/05/13

On May 13, 2008, Chinese Vice Premier Wang Qishan and U.S. Secretary of the Treasury Henry M. Paulson held telephone talks.

During their talks, Paulson extended his condolences over the massive quake in China's southwestern Sichuan province and expressed willingness to provide assistance.

Wang appreciated U.S. support on the issue and briefed Paulson on the country's disaster relief and reconstruction. Wang said the Chinese government and people would unite and stride forward together to overcome the grave natural disaster.

The two sides look forward to the successful holding of the fourth round of the China-U.S. Strategic and Economic Dialogue in June.
