On September 18, 2008, Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Yesui met in the Foreign Ministry building with visiting Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs Lam Sui-lung of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) Government. Both sides exchanged opinions on issues related with the foreign affairs of Hong Kong. Zhang said that the Foreign Ministry would continue to fully support the Hong Kong SAR to expand foreign exchanges and cooperation in line with the Basic Law and actively assist Hong Kong in bidding for hosting more influential international conferences and exhibitions. Lam expressed gratitude to Zhang and introduced the current situation of Hong Kong.

Zhang also talked about China’s diplomatic policies and relations with related big countries.
