On September 18, 2008, Assistant Foreign Minister Liu Jieyi met in the Foreign Ministry building with visiting Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development Rita Lau Ng Wai-lan of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) Government. Both sides exchanged opinions on the HK SAR government’s implementation of related UN General Assembly sanction resolution, establishment of HK trade office in Berlin and HK’s hosting of more international conferences and exhibitions. Liu noted that the Foreign Ministry will continue to fully support the HK SAR’s foreign exchanges and further enhance the international image of HK. Lau expressed gratitude to Liu Jieyi and indicated willingness to continue to work with the Foreign Ministry and its Office of the Commission there for the foreign exchange affairs of Hong Kong.
