Assistant Foreign Minister Wu Hongbo Hosts Banquet for the Filipino Chinese AMITY Club, Inc. Delegation

On September 27, 2008, Assistant Foreign Minister Wu Hongbo met with and hosted a banquet in Diaoyutai State Guesthouse for the Filipino Chinese AMITY Club, Inc. delegation to China headed by Chairman Huang Jinqing.

Wu first of all introduced China’s domestic situation to the guests, saying that China has overcome many difficulties to make achievements and in the process received full support from overseas Chinese including those in the Philippines. The rejuvenation of the Chinese nation is highly promising. He expressed satisfaction with the steady progress of bilateral relations between China and the Philippines, fully recognized the active role of the Filipino Chinese AMITY Club, Inc. of pushing forward the friendship between the two peoples, strengthening economic and trade relations between the two countries, supporting the development of the country of their origin and promoting the peaceful reunification of China. He also explained related policies of China after the change of local leaders of Taiwan.

The delegation members extended gratitude to Wu for taking time off his busy schedule to meet with them, expressed joy and pride for the vigorous development and achievements of China and indicated the willingness of continuing to play the role of bridge to help push forward the friendship between China and the Philippines and promote the peaceful reunification of the two sides of the Taiwan Strait.
