On December 17, 2008, Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Li Jinzhang had a courtesy meeting with Director-General of the Latin American and Caribbean Affairs Bureau Doo Jung Soo of the ROK Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, who is here for the 6th China-ROK Consultation on Latin America and the Caribbean between the two Foreign Ministries.

Li said recent years have witnessed stable development of Latin America and the Caribbean with its international status improving steadily. Enhanced communication and coordination between China and the Republic of Korea (ROK) as close neighbors on Latin American and Caribbean affairs is conducive to building up mutual understanding between both countries, improving the two countries’ relations with Latin America and the Caribbean and enriching the ties between the two countries.

Hailing the 6th China-ROK Consultation on Latin America and the Caribbean between the two Foreign Ministries as very successful, Doo Jung Soo said the ROK is ready to continue consultation with China on the Latin American and the Caribbean affairs.

Earlier, Yang Wanming, director-general of the Department of Latin American and Caribbean Affairs of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, and Doo Jung Soo held the 6th China-ROK Consultation on Latin America and the Caribbean between the two Foreign Ministries.
