On December 30, 2008, Assistant Foreign Minister Zhai Jun met in the Chinese foreign ministry with Israeli Ambassador to China Amos Nadai. Both sides exchanged opinions on the bilateral ties and regional situation.

Talking about the recent situation in Gaza, Zhai said that China always upholds the solution of Israel-Palestine disputes through political channels and opposes use of force and actions hurting the innocent people. It is hoped that parties concerned keep restraint, respond to the appeal of the international community to stop armed confrontation immediately, re-achieve ceasefire and ease the situation at an early date.
