On January 8, 2009, Chinese Vice Foreign Minister He Yafei upon request met with British Financial Secretary to the Treasury Stephen Timms, exchanging views on the second G20 summit to be held in London in April and other issues of common concern. Both sides agreed to make joint efforts to push the summit to achieve positive results, especially to promote world economic growth through coordinated efforts and follow the impact of the financial crisis on the development issues.
