On January 31, 2009, Vice Foreign Minister He Yafei attended the coordination meeting on the preparations of the London summit of G20 and emerging economies. Also present at the meeting were the vice financial ministers and deputy governors of central banks of Brazil, South Africa and Mexico and the G20 coordinator. The meeting mainly discussed the theme, preparatory mechanism and progress of the London summit and agreed to strengthen coordination among emerging economies, strive to achieve pragmatic outcome of the summit and send out positive signals to the world so as to boost market confidence and revive the global economy at an early date.

During the meeting, He met with heads of delegations of the above-mentioned countries as well as the US Treasury Deputy Assistant Secretary Mark Sobel and the advisor to British Prime Minister and G20 coordinator Jon Cunliffe respectively.
