On April 27, 2009, Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Li Hui, at request, met with Moldovian Ambassador to China Iacov Timciuc.

During the meeting, Li said in recent years, China-Moldova relations have been developing smoothly with the joint efforts of both sides. China respects the Moldovian people's right to independently choose the path of development and hopes to see the stability and development of the country. China is ready to continuously deepen political trust with Moldova, expand mutually beneficial cooperation in all areas and push forward bilateral comprehensive friendly relations of cooperation.

Timciuc briefed on the current domestic situation in Moldova, saying that the country attaches great importance to ties with China and hopes to further expand bilateral pragmatic cooperation in economy, trade, agriculture, transportation and infrastructure to bring benefit to both peoples.
