Yang Jiechi Holds Talks with Hungarian Foreign Minister Balazs

2009/07/02

On July 2, 2009, Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi held talks in the Foreign Ministry with his Hungarian counterpart Peter Balazs, who is here for a working visit.

During the talks, Yang spoke highly of the sound development of China-Hungary relations. The two nations maintained high-level exchanges and made fruitful cooperation in the fields of aviation, agriculture, environmental protection, economy and trade as well as culture and education, said Yang. He said China and Hungary supported and cooperated closely with each other in international organizations and their foreign ministries kept close cooperation. China is ready to take the opportunity of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties this year and join hands with Hungary to push forward bilateral ties.

Hailing the solid foundation of the traditional friendly relations, Balazs said bilateral ties have maintained rapid development in recent years. The new Hungarian government takes the development of ties with China as one of the priorities of its foreign policy and will continue to adhere to the one-China policy. He said Hungary is ready to work closely with China to jointly celebrate the 60th anniversary of the diplomatic ties and further deepen bilateral mutually beneficial cooperation in all areas. He said that as a member of the European Union (EU), Hungary would make active efforts to promote the development of EU-China relations.

Both sides also exchanged views on international and regional issues.
