On November 3, 2009, Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Li Jinzhang met with Atul Khare, visiting Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Timor-Leste. Khare briefed Li on the recent situation in Timor-Leste, as well as the work of the United Nations Integrated Mission in Timor-Leste (UNMIT). Li said China has been paying close attention to the situation in Timor-Leste and hopes that Timor-Leste can achieve peace, stability and development at an early date. China has always offered assistance within its ability for the national construction of Timor-Leste. The Chinese government will continue to support the UN's work in Timor-Leste.
