Wen Jiabao Meets with UNDP Administrator Clark

On November 26, 2009, Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao met with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Administrator Helen Clark in Ziguangge, Zhongnanhai. Hailing the UNDP's efforts in global development and poverty reduction, Wen spoke highly of the UNDP's positive role in the progress toward achieving the United Nations Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). Wen told Clark that the Chinese government applauded the UNDP's assistance and support. He said that China is ready to increase cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) under the new situation. Clark expressed her appreciation for China's achievements in its social and economic development, hoping to work with the country to explore new approaches and ways of cooperation to jointly cope with development challenges. Clark was here on a visit at the invitation of the Ministry of Commerce of China.
